Resources for Classrooms

Assistance League of Minneapolis/St. Paul sponsors the Links to Learning Grant program, providing up to $750 on a competitive basis to K-8 classrooms for enrichment activities.

The Community Learning Fund provides grants averaging $175 to defray/cover the transportation costs of field trips for MPS K-12 students. This fund is supported by Achieve!Minneapolis’ discretionary funds as well as community contributions and a donation from Dex Media resulting from the May 2007 phone book recycling project. Community Learning Fund 07-08 Application

Elementary Service Learning Grants are funded by the Kramer Family Foundation, the Star Tribune Foundation and the MPS Department of Community Education, providing up to $1,000 to cover the expenses involved in service learning activities in K-5 classrooms.

Elementary Service Learning Grants, administered by Achieve!Minneapolis and funded by gifts from the Kramer Family Foundation and the Star Tribune Foundation, have been awarded to the following MPS teachers for the 2007-08 school year:

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Service Learning Grants
Service learning is a form of active learning that values critical thinking and problem solving, engaging students in meaningful service to their schools and communities through careful integration with established curricula. Through the generosity of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, the Kramer Family Foundation and the Star Tribune Foundation, grants of up to $3,000 are available to MPS K-12 teachers to conduct service learning projects with their students during the 2006-07 school year.
