Community Learning Fund Grants

Grant Proposal Application
These Community Learning Fund Grants, funded through the generosity of the Star Tribune, are intended to help defray the costs associated with field trips for the core curriculum of Minneapolis Public Schools students in grades K–12. The proposal review process will be ongoing throughout the school year until the available funds are expended. The grant process is competitive; proposals will be reviewed and awards made based on the merits of the proposals and funds available. Grant funds (not to exceed $200 per application) are to be expended during the current school year.

Guidelines
  • A teacher may receive only ONE Community Learning Fund grant per school year.

  • Community Learning Fund Grants (not to exceed $200 per application) are intended to defray some of the expenses involved in a field trip experience for MPS students enhancing their core curriculum studies in grades K–12. The funds may be used to provide transportation or reduce the admission cost for students to partake in community resources that enhance their quality learning experiences.

  • A team of teachers may submit a joint request if no member of the team has received a Community Learning Fund grant during the current school year and if the grant request is proportional to the number of students/total cost of the field trip.

  • Download the two-page application form Only complete applications will be considered. Applications may be sent to the Achieve!Minneapolis office via school mail (received three times a week) or via US mail. Faxed applications will not be accepted. You may contact Janet George (612-455-1548, jgeorge@achieveminneapolis.org) if you have questions.

Applicants will be notified as soon as possible after receipt and review of their application. Allow several weeks’ lead time for Achieve!Minneapolis to process the application. Grants will be awarded in the form of a check payable to the school. The school is then responsible for paying the costs associated with the field trip. A brief report on the expenditure of the funds as well as the impact of the field trip experience is required of all recipients within two weeks of the field trip. Persons not submitting final reports will be ineligible for future funding. Download the Final Report Form.

  • Funds must be spent by 6/30/07 or returned to Achieve!Minneapolis.
